With the resurgence of colorful floral prints in the fashion and design world, it’s easy to lose track of the source of all of that blooming inspiration – the real deal.
We were reminded of nature’s beauty on a recent trip to Joni’s home! Here’s a little snippet into nature’s bounty…Vanderslice style.
As soon as we pulled up we noticed the gorgeous flowers leading to the front door.
The foxgloves (large white flowers) are undoubtedly the current garden showstoppers.
As we moved around to the side of the home we discovered Joni’s vegetable and herb garden.
Joni’s plentiful garden is full of her favorite herbs including:
She has veggies too – everything you need to make a fresh summer salad:
Because a special centerpiece is always part of the table at the Vanderslice’s home, Joni grows flowers that she can snip whenever. Some examples include:
We also saw signs of more blooms to come including hydrangea’s loaded with buds and canna lilies beginning to bud as well!
One of the advantages of having a garden is being able to have such easy access to fresh fruits and vegetables when entertaining!
Garden fresh! Thanks to Lauren and Grace (Vanderslice) for creating this delicious dish for us.
And Joni created this simple and beautiful centerpiece by mixing assorted bud vases and flowers on her dining table. The assortment of bud vases in varying heights is a twist on the traditional single arrangement.
We hope that you’ve enjoyed these pretty pictures and invite you to go take a little break and get outside and ‘smell the roses.’
