I love the color of these doors on this home on Lake Summit, NC. It reminds me of a color I selected for the Palmetto Bluff post office (see insets). We are using this color combination for a traditional cottage there now. I will share photos when it is complete!
We saw these impressive food vendors in Ghana.
I spotted this brown and white laser cut barrel bag at Henri Bendel in New York City. It is very similar to the one I am currently carrying!
Also while in New York I went to Ivanka Trumps Flagship Boutique and Bridal Salon with my daughters Grace and Sarah. What a unique space.
We took this silly picture of my pug while eating on the dock one night. It is too cute not to share.
I hope you are having a great summer!
I went to the High Museum of Art in Atlanta with my family last week. There were so many fabulous exhibits. These were some of my favorites!
There is a Gogo Ferguson exhibit there now. I have a few pieces of her jewelry and have always loved her work. Gogo uses natural elements she finds around her home on Cumberland Island, GA to create beautiful jewelry. The necklace above is composed of beads and silver pieces that are made from the mold of an armadillo scapula. The other necklace and earrings are made of pearls and silver cast from the mold of a rattlesnake jawbone.
This was a cool piece made of maple, various preexisting drawers, jute furniture mover’s strap and metal.
Loved this little door. My daughter, Sarah, stepped in as model to demonstrate scale.
The Lichenstein house in front of the museum! It was such a treat to go exploring through the museum with my husband Rick and daughter Sarah!
These skirts were part of an African textile exhibit that we LOVED. The skirt on the right is from Tanzania!
If you are in the Atlanta area I highly recommend a visit to this fabulous museum!
We are excited to introduce a new feature on our blog – Joni Loves! Every month Joni Vanderslice will share her five current “Loves.” Take it away Joni!
On a recent trip to Ghana I bought Kente cloth. I had pillows made and a chair recovered with the fabric for my home. Kente cloth is full of history and meaning. Read more about Kente cloth here.
This is a bathroom from our project, Castello di Casole, in Italy. I love the juxtaposing elements of the contemporary Bisazza tile with the old world Tuscan materials of stone and wooden beams.
My pug wearing emerald, the Pantone Color of the Year!
These are AMAZING hand painted linen panels I found at NYIGF. The panels, which look like old charcoal sketches of Paris, can be used for shower curtains, drapery, headboard walls, etc.
The Steamboat Ice Castle is an amazing structure of ice and turquoise-colored tunnels that I was able to explore with my family this winter. Definitely a must see attraction if you are in Steamboat Springs, CO.
