Crazy for Koi

On the J. Banks retail floor life is going swimmingly, and we’ve noticed a playful trend… Koi!

This fabulous fish – dressed in warm summer hues of orange, yellow, and gold – was originally used as a decorative element in Asian garden ponds. Today Koi grace home decor elements from table lamps to napkin rings. Also, the fish scale inspired scalloped pattern is inspiring jewelry and textile designs around the world.

With their flare for the dramatic, Koi are perfect for a splash for whimsy and charisma whether you’re sitting down to a sumptuous dinner, relaxing by the pool, or dressing for a night out.

We’re charmed by the cute use of Koi in SugarCube Press’ letterpress note cards.

But the motif is equally comfortable in the form of this elegant porcelain urn, or hanging on the wall in the form of this lyrical art piece.

If you’re looking for a little “splash” of this trend in your summer, we suggest this charming place setting that will enchant all users, young and old. Just slip the brightly enamelled napkin ring on a set of cheerful orange napkins (made of “user-friendly” cotton and edged in whimsical pleats) and lay the combination over the knotted gold rope place mats. Whether your coming in off the beach for a light lunch, or sitting down to a fine dinner, this is just the touch to add sparkling personality to your table.

From your J. Banks Team,

A Splendid Summer!
